RF Smart Repeater
Model SR731
INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The RF Smart Repeater is designed to increase the range of X10 wireless
remote controls, motion sensors, and security products that operate at 310
MHz. It does this by boosting and retransmitting RF signals it receives from
those products. You should locate the RF Smart Repeater somewhere centrally
between the product you are transmitting from and the product you want to
receive the repeated commands. In some instances you might need to
experiment with the location so that the receiver doesn’t see the repeated
commands as well as the original commands, although in most instances this is
not likely to be a problem.
INSTALLING THE REPEATER
1. Find a suitable location, preferably at least 3 feet above the ground and
centrally located between the transmitter and the receiver.
2. Plug the Smart Repeater into an AC outlet. Extend the antenna.
3. Set the codewheel on the Smart Repeater to any letter between A and D. If
you are using more than one repeater, set each one to a different sequential
letter. Install each repeater at least 50 ft. apart. Experiment with placement.
Note, ABCD is the same as EFGH, or IJKL or MNOP.
TESTING THE SMART REPEATER
1. Set the housecode on an X10 Transceiver to M (its Unit Code is always 1).
2. Press the TEST button on the Smart Repeater. The Transceiver clicks on
and off for each successive press.
