oral . An  axillar y or  underar m re adin g is  usually  is 
1.0 °F (0.5°C) lo wer 97 .6° F (36. 4°C ) and a  rectal 
temperature is usually 1.0°F higher (0.5°C) 99.6°F

wash with cold, soapy water. An intact unit can be 
s u b m e r s e d i n  50 %  w at e r  an d  5 0%  a lc o h ol ;  
ho we ve r do  no t so ak  fo r an  ex te nde d p er iod of  
time. Be sure to dry thermometer thoroughly using 
soft cloth. 
To mak e temperatu re taking more hy gienic and to 
h el p p r e v e nt  c r o s s - c o nt am in at io n i t i s  
recommende d to use Sa msung  Disposable Probe 
Covers (model # TSP -001) each time tem peratu re 
is taken.
When the "18 8.8" s ymbol is continuously flashing, 
the battery  needs to be replaced with 
an SG3 silver oxide type. 
1.Slide battery cap away from unit.
2. Rem ove  the  b at t er y  us i ng  a  sma ll P h il lip s-
hea d o r jewe ler 's scr ewdri ver  an d i nse rt new  
battery with the positive (+) side facing up. 
3. Caref ully slide batt ery cap back  int o it s pl ace,  
mak in g s ure  th e c ap  is  secur el y f it to pro te ct 
battery from moisture.

i s l e s s  t h a n  6  m o n t h s  o l d ,  g e n t l y  i n s e r t  a  
maximum  of 1/4 t o 1/2 in ch into the rectu m.
