About This Kit
This kit provides the files necessary to run
SpeedDome Ultra III or Ultra IV camera domes
with VM96 version 4.0 
and SensorNet
. 
Do not use
this kit with systems other than VM96 Version
4.0 with SensorNet.

Checking Your VM96 Version
1.  Start the Administrator menu.
2. Select “Setup” then “System”.
 The 
Setup System
 form appears on the
screen.
  Check the version number. The version number
appears in the upper right corner of the form.
The version number must be 4.0.

  If the version number is 
not
 4.0, press
Alt+X
, then 
Enter
. You are ready to install
the dome.

  If the version number is 4.0, press 
Alt+X
,
then 
Enter
. Continue with

System Files

Updating System Files
1.  Insert the diskette labeled “VM96 SDU III/IV
Update Disk” in the VM96 diskette drive.
2.  From the Administrator Menu, select
“Utilities” to display the Utilities pull-
down menu. Then select “Update System
Files”.
3. The “Update system files from DOS
floppy” window appears.
 
 
File names (*.* or *.ext):
 
Ascii/Binary (A/B) [A]
 Type 
*.txt
 in the “File names” field. The
cursor automatically moves to the “Ascii/Binary”
field. Press 
Enter
.
  The list of files being copied from the diskette
briefly appears on the screen.
4.  When the file copy is complete, the
following message appears on the screen:
 
A system shutdown is necessary in
order for the new or restored files
to be incorporated and take effect.
 
<Return to Continue>
 Press 
Enter
 to return to the Administrator
menu.
5.  Remove the diskette from the VM96 diskette
drive. Select “Utilities” then select
“Shutdown”.
  When prompted to Abort or Continue the
shutdown, select 
Continue
 then press 
Enter
.
After the VM96 system restarts, continue with
Verifying the Update
.
Verifying the Update
1.  Start the Administrator menu.
2. Select “Utilities
”
 to display the Utilities
pull-down menu. Then select “Display
File
”
.
3. Type alias.txt at the “Display File”
prompt, then press ENTER.
  The file displays on the screen. At the bottom of
the file you should see the line: 
2283  1035.
−
  If you do not see 
2283  1035
 on the last
line, press Esc twice to exit the form. Return
to 
Updating System Files
 and repeat the
procedure.
−
  If you do see 
2283  1035
, press Esc twice
to exit the form. You are now ready to install
the dome.
Important Note About Camera Status
SpeedDome Ultra III/IV domes on the VM96 V4.0 system will
always have a status of 
UPDT
 (update) in the Camera Status
form. This is due to the version numbers being different. 
There
is no need to update the dome.
