GoBook II  “Growling” Noise Condition With BIOS 1.80
Introduction
This Technical Bulletin addresses a potential “growing” noise that may occur with GoBook II computers using BIOS v. 1.80.  This is
a minor, non-destructive issue with a simple work around pending installation of the next BIOS version.
Fault Condition
A GoBook II computer equipped with BIOS 1.80 may emit a growling noise from the speakers during a boot or resume. Moving the
mouse or pressing keys during boot or resume may increase the occurrences of the growling noise. While this condition can happen
on any GoBook II computer with BIOS 1.80, it occurs in less than 1% of units and is an intermittent issue. It is unlikely you will
experience this fault condition with your GoBook II.
Solution
• To reduce the occurrences of the growling noise, do not press keys or move the mouse during boot or resume unless requested
by the operating system. Once booting to the desktop is complete you may use your mouse and keyboard as usual.
• To correct this condition if it occurs, as soon as the growling noise begins, move either the mouse or enter information using
the keyboard. The growling noise will then stop.
NOTE  If the unit is allowed to boot to the desktop without stopping the noise, it will continue growling and will require a re-
boot to correct the fault.
• A new BIOS is under development and will be released to correct this condition.
Notification of release of the next BIOS version will be made to all customers who have received units produced with BIOS v. 1.80.
Re-flashing of the BIOS in the field is a quick and simple operation.  Instructions for this re-flashing will be supplied with the new
BIOS.
